However, the news article was full of typical 1080 miss-information, assumptions and pseudo science.
Paddy Gower was a cock because he is, the dead kiwi has an unproven cause of death and should have been stated as such, other than that your statement is a reflection of your own bias.
Close to 75 kg of poison dumped in one of our most pristine areas is reflective of the ho hum attitude of the 1080 business that has drunk so much of their own Koolaid they’ve lost perspective.
    It’s appalling.

I haven't watched the news report but in regards to the contractors drop - Their heli's are GPS tracked by DOC, so his obviously wasn't working that day.

In this case, the specific incident does not directly relate to aerial application.

Yep. Sea birds, penguins etc killed in Hauraki Gulf. Kiwis killed on Little Barrier Island, domestic cattle killed on farms, child poisoned at Rotoaira, heli buckets full of poison dropped into waterways, Rangipo Prison water supply catchment dropped into, Horses poisoned, thousands of birds killed, trout fishing compromised-- the list goes on. -- @Tahr

Perspective: note you couldn’t just make a comment about how crap the dumping was, without the footnote which read as a smear on anyone not agreeing with using the stuff. It’s a common tiresome tactic at the other forum.
FYI I’m not against using the stuff in some circumstances so pot black whatever. You know this of course.

Here's a little to balance the perspective of the seriousness of this type of gung ho.
That 75kg of 1080 poison has the capability of killing: 30,000 possums, or 60,000 dogs, or 2800 deer, or 14000 wekas, or 600,000 rats or over 500 humans. (Baits at the commonly used potency of 0.15% 1080 per kg.)

Put the young Fella in charge of DOC, he might just clean up the whole operation. And he has some balls speaking up, plenty would have just said nothing and carried on. Well done young man you deserve a promotion!
