Anyone done the new aspeq EST exam?

As per title. There's no old paper to study anymore. I've done the mit course just waiting for the boss to book the exam.

    Anyone done it?

    Cheers

It's a sort of electrical license but needs an exam to be done before you get it

I did my EST about 10 years ago, it was all about the regs, and judging by the refresher courses it still is. My 2 cents worth is get the regs and get used finding where stuff is in the book as fast as you can.
Is it all done on line now? @Maca49 EST is the old B licence. Hard wired and yes 3phase stuff. A is appliance, plug in stuff only.

Really? Hmmmm. I've just resigned from being a field engineer (EST level stuff) and have become an adult apprentice electrician.
If it's just an easy exam, that'll take 18 months of my time off!

When you do an EST, you need practical experience as well. EST on its own means stuff all?

All exams are easy, if you know the answers. The more you study the more questions you will know answers to.

Both my current apprentices have knocked this over in their first year. Both passed. I'm very pleased as they both worked damn hard to get there. You get that new job?

Ah, The story goes that I was meant to do it in the first year but MIT don't put it in the pre trade anymore. Done plenty of hours on my TLC.

Not yet. Over the block course had at least 3 companies want interviews. He wanted to have a more formal interview when I get my trade cert in November.

    Exciting times.

yes. That is what the Trainee Limited Certificate is for TLC. allows you to be supervised.

hmm... would pay to check with the EWRB. An electrical registration is different and superior to EST. I would not think that the EST takes less time off your apprenticeship as it requires 6000 odd hours I believe.

seems like you'll just have to do the time.

been an EST for 30 years, been a good qual to have although mine was originally just A and B way back in 88

now apparently 18 months practical experience is all thats required now, was 8000 hrs when I did mine
