Anyone have experience with stab vests?

Asking for a friend - he's looking for a stab vest that can be worn underneath clothing without looking noticeable. So fairly lightweight and not bulky.

Has anyone bought one of these in NZ? It's for overseas use but would like to get this sorted before going.

    Cheers

I'm guessing here, but I think he doesn't want to die from a stab wound.....

On a more serious note, I have never needed to use one but I think there are a few current and former officers of our constabulary that may have had reason to wear one that may be able to help....

    Hi Mcdee ,

which area in the world will your mate be travelling to?

it is sometimes better to purchase a vest from the local market.

i have ahd several vest over the years , but for my use i ended up with a full tactical Level III A vest with extra balistic padding as well as plates to stop a 7.62x51 wrapped in truama padding to stop shrapnel. cost a fortune but what is your life worth.

i have still got some contact in the international market and could possibly assist if need be.

PM me if you wish to proceed.

    Cheers

Anyone have experience with stab vests?

I had a hoodie called a bladerunner when I was in SA, had a woven Kevlar inner which was supposedly stab proof, was great as it just looked like a normal hoodie.
Never got to test it though, did have an armed robbery while I was wearing it but no shots were fired and no knives were present that time!
Would love to know what happened to it, disappeared somewhere in the move.

If Sipho was in the vicinity I'm sure it'd have been spirited away back to the location.

A proper who's your uncle stab will go through this though (it's only for slashing). We might have a look at the vest I put up

Why don't you just go for a proper Kevlar bullet proof vest?

If you going to that size and bulk you might as well go the whole hog.

TBH in those places (having spent time running around 3rd world slums with an R5) your chance of being shot is greater than being stabbed.
I only had an SAPS issue bullet proof with ceramic plate inserts, weighed 13kgs!

Good luck to your mate either way!
