    Anyone A Sparky in CHCH?

I'm building a reloading room in my garage and will need to rewire my garage so I have plenty of power points and lights etc.
Got to get: - 6mm 2C+E cable as main supply to garage from house
    - 2.5mm 2C+E cable for power points and lighting.

Is there anyone on here from CHCH that could hook a brother up with a good deal please?

There is a guy in Nelson who sells cable and fittings on Trade Me that will beat any price your local sparky will have . Check him out before you commit yourself to the local supplier.

Aaaah...... maybe you should chose not to void your home insurance and potentially live a little longer by getting PEW done by a licensed electrician

1mm2 for your lights. Only chch sparkys run 6mm submains, go 16mm neutral screen and future proof it.

    Nice video KJ.
Don't worry, a sparky will be doing the connecting.
I'll just be running the cables to where they need to go.

Cheers for that K95. I'll look into that 16mm neutral screen.
Yeah will probably get some 1mm for the lighting as well.

Good man. Make sure you get a COC from your sparky.

6mm can get undersized pretty quick once someone throws a fridge and freezer in there and power tools etc etc but cheaper than 16mm. Depending on their discount I think a sparky will pay about $10 a metre for 16mm NS roughly...

Think about going for LED lighting, I have heard rumours fluorescent lights can change scales readings??

If you are going to buy any of your own fittings you need to be able supply a certificate of conformity for your sparky or he may not be keen to install it. A lot of these people importing cheap stuff will not be able to provide one ( including Mitre 10 sometimes!).

    Cheers or the advise K95
Yup will be going for LED's for sure.
Good advise on the 16mm NS. It's not cheap but will make for better supply. I do run a welder occasionally, not to mention the fridge/freezer and the chest freezer already in the garage.
Will ask the sparky about the fittings I have when I see him.
