congrats to Peter Dawson and the CHCH RSA on the recommissioning of the bridge of Remembrance.
the late Russ Barron(former president)was rumbling about this right up till his death and now his dream is realised.

Off to the morning parade as my sun marches with the sea scouts in it. He will be wearing his great grandfathers miniatures today.

    Lest we forget.
Both my Grandfathers, my father, his brothers and some of my other Uncles, all ex servicemen. Gallipoli, Somme, Pachendale, Middle East, Greece, Crete, Pacific.
Taupo dawn service was very good.

Maori TV is doing justice to ANZAC day, which is appreciated.

Interestingly my father in law never claimed his medals, he never saw or held them, his wife applied for them after his death.

Both of my grandfathers served in the British army in the Somme before emigrating here after WWI. Both passed away long before I was born.

    We will remember them.

My father won the Military Medal for bravery during the evacuation of Singapore. He was the only survivor of a complete gun crew.
The war ruined him. I only had him for 14 months.
Its a terrible thing, war. Such a waste.
