    AR15 Receiver A-cat vs E-cat

Word is that a policy change at plod central has all imported receivers being specified as E-cat only, ie you cannot import an AR15 receiver as an A-cat firearm any longer

Tell me it is all just a rumour - I'm putting it out there to any of you who are better informed than I

I would like to be wrong on this one please

Getting E-cat is easy enough and it may be a move (only if true) to get all of those nasty scary black guns registered. Have these people not heard of Defense Distributed and tools like the Ghost Gunner?
    https://ghostgunner.net/
or more homegrown efforts like NZAR15's new Katipo receivers? (can't find a link atm)

If true it looks rather shortsighted to me but that is not unusual these days

A lot if you don't have your e cat and want to build an ar15.
They would be trying to limit the number of ar15 rifles getting built on a cat configuration

No I mean physically, an AR receiver is an AR receiver ? unless it is a select fire one which would be C-Cat ?

The only thing you can add to a lower to make it an E Cat is a free standing pistol grip.

Ok. There is no difference at all. Just one is registered.

There is no physical difference between an A-cat receiver and an E-cat receiver - there is a legislative difference where one is declared to be A-cat and does not need to have it's number recorded whereas the other must pay for the privilege of having 10+ round mags and pistol grips by being noted in Mr Plod's little list
