Yes, you are correct, The Public Work Act only relates to the property and and improvements.
It doesn't compensate for any business losses. As that can vary irrespective of property values.

I don't "give tax"... they take it.

And I have a good long drink at rangiriri and a good long piss in te waikato every time I go past, since the city can't feed or water itself.
It's OK they dose it out with chlorine bleach and flourine, which keeps all the cityfolk docile, hamster on a wheel and whatnot.

"The solution to pollution is dilution" - but I'm much happier knowing that every Aucklander might have just enjoyed a molecule or two of my pee in complete ignorance.

Saw some TED talk the other day. It's likely that in every glass you drink (wherever in the world you are) you're taking molecules that have been through Einstein and/or Hitler.
Something about quantum physics or nanoparticles. The scale of things is mind blowing. The quantum soup that consciousness coalesces into "reality"...

Yup. 99% of what you perceive as solid is void. And there's SFA difference between one atom and the next.

To those who posted up the usual crap about Aucklanders, the reason I decided to vent was not a complaint about potholes etc........it was to do with a statutory body (the council) solving the perceived 'road crisis' by lowering the speed limits.

Its sort of like solving the problem of mass murderers by banning firearms from lawful abiding people.. The disconnect with those who have power is unbelievable.

Well the local school has had foot paths hugely widened. Parking removed. Table top pedestrian crossings every 100 M.

And now a 30 zone permanently.

Except no one has ever been run over.

Seems like the council budget needs to be used up in order to get the same amount of fuckery for the next year.

Pretty sure I covered that with "ban f*ing morons."

Stupidity might not be illegal yet. But it should be.

The problem with making things idiot proof is that they keep developing a better idiot

Auckland Transport has a tendency to repriortise work programmes based on safety.
You would have to look into the studies that support the lowering of speed limits, as I canít be bothered.
As for the poor souls living with gravel roads still. Blame the legacy District Council. It was always short of $.
I know back in 2016, the Rodney area took 78% of ATs regional road sealing (gravel to new seal) budget and that was based on a matrix and free of political influence (ie Webster and Walden).
