Ryan thanks mate that brought back some memories. John Mace was the CO of the battalion when I first went to Singapore in 73. I have been back in 01 but probably wouldn't recognise the place now. It was a great couple of years I had over there.

When I worked and lived in Singapore in the early 80's we use to cringe when you guy's came to town all liquored up on your cheap base beer while we were paying $30 for a jug. The fights that erupted over a whore at the Offshore Land Club were commonplace. In the end the club banned you guys from entering.
When you saw your MP's in town we use to bugger off and have a beer elsewhere.

You try going there for an exercise and finding that the Morons have got you banned from more places than you knew existed . And then the tossers took it upon themselves to confiscate our piss ,untill they where they where told on no uncertain terms to "Piss off".
And then there was the Regimental Police who thought they could tell us off , they could not understand how we could not give a sh1t what they said

Doesn't take much for your garden variety American. Explaining cricket in a funny accent usually does the trick.
