    Bugga

Got called late yesterday morning by a client. apparently his boat was broken down over the other side of the lake and could I assist in recovering it. No problem says kind hearted me. Only thing is, I will have to shoot into town to get some fuel as I was bit low and towing another vessel would probably tax all my fuel. I have fresh fuel here he said, 91 so that will do the trick. Any way I grab a mate for a boatman and off we go. Find the boat and crew, whilst my cobber checks their boat out, I top up on fuel for the tow. The tow had only gone half a k when my boat stops and wont restart. Hmm not good thinks I. Anyway one of the commercial guys comes along side and offers to tow both boats back. Great thanks. Today will be spent with an outboard Mechanic flushing both boats and hopefully minimal or no damage, hopefully. Client is footing the bill and hopefully I will be operational by this arvo. My rescuer would not accept a reward as he said I have helped him in the past and will probably again in the future.

Moral of the story only use your own fuel and diesel doesn't work in petrol outboards.

Bugga alright. That would rip your undies big time.

At least you all lived to tell the tale GA.
A mate borrowed his daddys big flash car for a boys day out many years ago, and dutifully filled it with Derv. Aparently Rolls Royce didnt make a diesel version
He very nearly didn't live to tell the tale

Had an uncle that filled a brand spanking Merc with diesel many moons ago. Apparently he thought they only made diesels.

I had a newish soldier not realise the NZ Army Landrovers were petrol. Filled it with diesel. Luckily it was in camp, only a few hundred meters from the transport guys.

Well he tempted the wrath of the sea gods by naming his boat that saw a Reef Runner once that had done exactly that

On the side of wrong fuel helped out the next door neighbor widow the other day.
Really nice old merc that her late husband had keep in pristine condition.
She ask me to have a look as it was smoking a bit?

Asked her if she had done anything too it?
Yes she says just filled it up with oil as the old man had said to her always keep the oil full......
Checked the dipstick it was oozing out the top?
She had filled it all right......to the very top
Drained it down for her now it's back to running

Eeebees my wife did the clipper round the world challenge back in 2000.
She is very superstitious! When she smoked she would not light a smoke from a candle.
    Still never whistle at sea!
And we both look at boat names with some raised eyebrows

She's not to bad though.....as she did just buy me a BOAT!!
