    Google's no help.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

From memory we got a pamphlet and directions from the Visitor Centre in the middle of town.

Did you want to go to the Burwood Takahe centre ( about 20 km before you get to Te Anau) or do you
want to see some Takahe wondering around a big enclosure, there is one on the Te Anau - Manapouri rd
about a km out of town, between the road and the lake on right hand side. if you get to the turn off to go
to the Dam then you have gone past it.

The enclosure one is before the 100km zone. Half way between the 70 and 100.

i think it's the breeding centre that is on the TeAnau- Mossburn highway, it is situated about 400m before chewings rd
on the left hand side, just a house and sheds, look up driveway and you can see DOC sign, nothing on road side.the enclosures
are on right hand side about opposite chewings rd, down a gravel track.( don't know if these enclosures are for public
    access thou.)
    puku and Frogfeatures like this.
