    Bushman Insect Repellent

I went for a walk in Fiordland last week and needed some insect repellent.

Found this Bushman Plus - 80% DEET with Sunscreen for $12 at Countdown.

    Regular retail is $19 - $24

Not sure if it is on sale at every Countdown but may be worth a look if you are in there shopping.

My local also had the regular stuff / no sunscreen on sale.

In a civilized and cultivated country, wild animals only continue to exist at all when conserved by the sportsman. The excellent people who protest against all hunting, and consider sportsmen as enemies of wildlife are wholly ignorant of the fact that in reality the genuine sportsman is by all odds the most important factor in keeping wild creatures from total extinction.

Mix baby oil and dettol 50/50. Smell like a chemist shop but it works.

Best stuff out imo but it eats anything rubber or plastic. Must have either in it.
Sunglasses, fishing line, fastec clips, rifle stocks.

I reckon it's the best stuff to.

But keep away from plastic - I f'ed a pair of prescription sunglasses with it, and a rubber watch strap (Yes, I'm a slow learner....) but none of those African bitey things got me.
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....

The Ockers got something right for once.

Yup mozzies are pretty bad here and carry all sorts of shit. We have at least one case every rotation of someone going down with a mosquito born virus.

@R93 do you know what was in the early 90's mil issue stuff ? That shit was evil! Seen it eat through a sleeping mat in a few hours and a guy blow up like a balloon in Malaysia after putting some on

Can't remember the name of it or even if it had a name. Was in the little green pump bottle with yellow print on it? Supposed to be sunscreen as well

I still have some of that somewhere. Never use it tho. Full of either as well I think.

That bushman stuff does work really well, much better than the spray ones, but the best solution is to travel with @Mohawk660.
Sandflies won't even bother to look at you when he's around.
