    Buying a camera

I'm thinking about getting myself a camera to take pictures around the farm. At the moment I'm only using my iPhone and I've got not a clue what I'm looking at when it comes to good quality cameras. Anyone know anything about this that has suggestions on what I should look at? Wouldn't really want to spend too much money on it and at this point it's still just a thought I've had, not really sure if I'll end up getting one.
    Cheers

Canon sx50 really impressed with it, is a little bulky. Good battery, enough zoom to replace spotting scope, standard hole in the bottom for Tripod. good enough pictures for me to be happy. Bung it on auto and it does its thing. Video recording as well. Sx50 didn't doesn't have viewfinder just the screen

    What's your budget?
Best budget SLR out there at the moment is a Nikon D5500 with kit lens for just under $1k. You will be astounded at the image quality and I shoot with approx $15k worth of camera and lenses. Bought one for my wife and its very good.

Wouldn't want to spend much more than $550 but around $650 would be the absolute upper limit of how much I would spend

I had a look and on JB HiFi I can get an sx50 for $299 or an sx60 for $549 which both seem like good options

Some models come with a hot shoe for flash body, others viewfinder. Can't remember details as I brought mine about 18months ago.

I Have just bought a SX60 the deer I have tried to video so far are camera shy, the buggers have walked into the bush while I set up. SX50 is a good option for the money.

Managed to grab the SX60 on a deal for $450. Waited around for a few months and found it on sale. Pretty cheap for a camera and spotting scope
