    Buying a new gun......(help)

    Hey Guys
I am looking at buying a Tikka t3x but I am unsure of a caliber. I want to do mostly tops hunting and if I have a small amount of bush, so I was thinking something along the lines of a 7mmRM.
Also, I want to put a muzzle break on it.......Does anyone recommend any??
Any ideas will be much appreciated!
    Thanks

There is only one muzzle brake, a Terminator. Kiwi Greg on here makes and sells them.

7mm mag is an awesome calibre for tops hunting. When in the bush, with a muzzle brake, you will need hearing protection before you fire. If you don't use hearing protection you will cause permanent hearing damage.

For a 1st rifle and wanting something to stretch the distance with, 308 good choice of off the shelf ammo look at a Browning AB3 save your hard earned $$$

Another one for the 7mm rem mag, up close or out long it will do the job, ammo is also readily available. Plenty of good muzzle brakes around, one already being mentioned, all depends on how much you want to spend.

unless you are going to practise long range shooting anything from 243 upwards gets you out to 400m .I would rather a suppressor than a muzzle brake due to the noise unless you go to something big and are happy to use ear protection .

This; and if budget is a concern, T/C Compass comes with threaded barrel and mostly excellent reviews and reports.

300 wm work well, not as flat as 7mm rem mag.
heard that the short magnums are a bit bad on barrel throats but would welcome opinions on those that own them.
my next purchase (after i get the wife a 357) is a 338 lapua
