Any recommendations on where to buy car tyres in the Nelson/Richmond area?

I would ring around everyone except mag and turbo. (only because their ads bag second hand tires "you wont save money" etc then next month Buy our top quality second hand tires! cocks)

Do you have a brand in mind? Jacks tires did a very good price on BFG last time I bought tires.

We use Peter Ross Tyres (bridgestone) for work. I brought a set of ATs there last year. Pay for 3 get 4 type deal.

Always good service, they fixed 2 slow leaking tyres on my work wagon while I waited on friday morning

Or try tyreshop online. They are hooked up with tyre fitters everywhere.
