    Chainsaw repair help

    Hi got my old husky 40 which wont start once its hot so going to do crank seals any one here familiar with the how to already got the bar and clutch off one side ust not that familiar with small engines

    i would be looking down the ignition circuit first.
    take the plug out and get someone to hold it with pliers onto the body of the saw as you pull the start cord and see what the spark looks like. should be a nice fat spark as it in open air not under pressure.

    Have a look on youtube mate. Tonnes of videos on there covering these sorts of things, you never know

    Its got spark and doesnt cut out when its hot just wont start if you switch it off

    possibly getting to much fuel in there, may just need a tune up, when was it last serviced?

    My big old Husky gets airlocked - you have to leave it for a while to cool down and it starts again
    Cats have nine lives-which makes them ideal for experimentation...

    It gets air cleaner and a plug about once a year its a fire wood saw

    does it smell of fuel when it wont start?

    No plug isnt wet either it runs fine untill you switch it off doesnt starve of fuel or cut out all,of a sudden thats why i was thinking crank seals

    get access to a compression tester, put it in the plug hole give it a few cranks and see what the pressure is

    Ok im a mechanic so fot all that kind of stuff just small engines piss me off for some reason

    make sure it is clean around muffler area as it may be heating the fuel line and vapourising the fuel so it wont start till the heat dissipates .

    Sometimes when old hot saws do that applying choke will get them started.
