    Classic cars

I keep an eye on classic cars on trade me. I like them and once owned one.
I now have a modern v8. Iv been thinking of selling it for something with a bit my style, or age.
I like Holden's. The prices of the likes of the HQ have really sky rocketed. Are people actually paying these prices?
Iv seen more iconic cars like Camaros and mustangs for better money.
Are you into these cars, what do you think?

Been keen on cars most of my life owned company cars so had the advantage of not pouring money down the toilet, owned a 29 Humber 16/50 but lost it in a fire, was rebuilt as a golf mans coupe. Then a 72 MGB in the 80s, a couple of Cosworths 89 and 94 last yr of production. A 65 AH Sprite for my son, a 1932 Wolseley Hornet Special, ex Roycroft car, a 61 MGA Roadster, still have the last three, also fitted in a Masport Escort! Had over 20 new cars in my life all company cars!

Quality Mid 90's 4wds are going the same way, as long as they are tidy and in near factory condition.

Old school chev/GMC/dodge early 70's to early 80's ute/light truck/4x4 is my current flavor. Been eyeing up a couple of nice ones but wife won't let me pull the trigger.

That said I am picking up my new 2008 VW R32 Golf in the morning. Selling my manual box Polo with stage 2 Revo tune. My back and left hip is struggling with the clutch pedal in the f***ing Auckland rush hour traffic!

Yeah, I kick my self at times. I struggled to sell a LS Monaro for 10k nearly 20 years ago. The same quality would be 60-70k now.
    But are they getting it?
I'm struggling to understand how they justify this, as I could get a Shelby a few years old for about that. Or a quality 50's Chev. These old chevs were always more than a stinking holden HQ, the chevs haven't changed much but the old holden has caught up?

Bought and sold Ford jail bar same day for $30.00 in about 1972! Turned down two MG TDs at the same time $400 for one with a broken rear axle and $600 for one with a leaking water pump, drove it from Seaview to Petone!

I turned down a LS Monaro for 7 grand , one of the dumbest things I have done ......... and an XB gt for the same dough. I think the problem with old holdens and Fords is that they were dime a dozen till suddenly there wernt many left ..... and they aint making any more

Yeah basically they are worth what someone will pay, in 2012 I went through the same exercise wanting to build up an old Mopar but after doing the sums found it was a lot cheaper to buy a new one so bought a 2011 Roush Mustang which I have recently sold and replaced with a 2016 Dodge Challenger, for the money spent there is no way I could have restored and modified an old one to any where near a similar spec the new ones can offer.

1990 50000 Ks lots of upgrades goes round corners real well and is doing 30 mpg at 100 mph according to onboard computer just as it goes into top gear. Old tech but fun

Not so rare just real tidy and would be hard to replace. All sorts of after market gear. If you jump on it it doesn't even move just makes tire smoke
