    Cold out there

It seems that is rather cold out, over the entire country this morning.
Is there anyone near pukaki that can verify it is -20 in the lake please.
-7 here which isn't too bad, it is winter.
Has @Toby got thermals jocks for his trip?

I had a thin layer of ice on the windscreen this morning. First time in quite a few years. Wifes car behind mine was ok
Stopped at the powdercoaters on the way to work. Really noticed the chill walking out of there. Pretty cold in the office waiting to warm up
Feels alot colder than the 3.1 Metservices says it is

-7 at home this morning. Not the worst frost we've had. Don't mind cold starts, especially after 3 or so weeks of rain and sleet.

Yea I quite like living here in central with the dry cold rather than te anau or the rest of southland with wet.

Here are a few photos from today

Heading up to check the cows. The top of the track is on the skyline above bike
I'm half way there and just getting into snow about 600m asl

Finally on top of the hill after sliding off the track only once.

That drift was too deep for the bike. So it was by foot the rest of the way....

A short while later I have reached the next gate. Lucky I had a rifle to dig it out!

Another 3km later I've reached the cows. On the way down I was thinking "I'm taking these cows home so the track will be easier to walk back".
Anyway I decided that they can stay there for the time being and will reassess end of the week.

Looking towards Ranfurly and the Danseys Pass.

    Looking down towards the house.
    Enjoy

Cheers DD. Unfortunately for Toby the duck pond is frozen over so he won't be able to go for a dive.

    Yeah pretty cool a.
I wonder how many other stud cows are still up in snow. I believe they should be tested as commercial stock

Schools should be closed. Pretty much a "snow day" up here.
