Diggers canít swim - neither can bulldozers

I live in a little street on the edge of the harbour up the road from Te Puna
Council - (maybe Regional) - decided to mulch a few mangrove sticks that were still protruding out of the mud from a pruning job a couple of years back - see sticks in Picture 2
A nice house being constructed down the end of the street by the edge of the harbour - mid last week I noticed some very large trucks with diggers, bulldozers and cranes going up and down the street so I didnít think much of it and missed all the excitement - take a look at the ďThe Crane that CouldĒ
Just imagine what us ratepayers are going to pay to fix these machines
The owner of the pictures is happy to have them circulated

Apart from the obvious WTF where they doing out there in the first place just think how many crabs and snails they have killed or disturbed, I bet if you rode a 4wheeler out there to launch your dingy you would be threatened with imprisonment, castration and a bloody big fine for disturbing the habitat .

On going contract to mulch the mangroves I believe that the council is trialling a hovercraft with a mower attachment to the front.

Ahh there were no mangroves within 50 yards of that digger?

And that driver needs a lesson in driving, why on earth would you drive through a flowing channel in an estuary? They're always the softest part of the mudflat when the tide is out. Bloody muppet

Bloody funny though all the same.

We had a twin engine plane with engine failure land in the same bit of water 5 - 7 years ago now from memory so it's claimed a few dollars worth.

They did a lot of work in the harbour last summer - I took these mid Jan 2014 - looks like they were mulching regrowth - looks like the same machine as there cant be many with wide tracks like that
