    Dogs n Lawns n Winters

How do you guys maintain your backyard so it look like a backyard with a dog running around?

During summers the pupper was just digging some tiny holes nothing major.

Now that its winters, every single bit of grass has gone from the backyard its all dirt, its just a huge swamp with holes everywhere filled with water.

    Any tips?

keep replanting ,some of the hardwearing grass seed types will handle it ok.
keep dog tied up till frost has gone, exercise elsewhere is always great idea.
and when you find solution to the digging........... it will make you a fortune, short and simple answer to that one is lots of excercise daily...non bored = not digging.

Just what I was after! Also since we are going to re-seed the backyard for summers anyways might as well buy quality material so it lasts a while, is there anything stronger than Hardwearing grass eg different numbers or something? Theres like a Number 8 heardwearing grass seed in Mitre10, is that the one you were talking about? Thanks!

try gator 3 seed from farmlands its a turf grass was used on rugby grounds like carisbrook.you need a lot of seed for a lawn more than used in a paddock I did a lawn for a guy used just over 400kgs for about 3 acres .buy your seed through a seed merchant or the likes of farmlands or whoever you deal with it works out cheaper per kilo.the hardwearing stuff from mitre10 when I used it for reinstatement on trenching jobs sprouted nearly all year round if you need a quick fix only if you keep dog off it though.

I bought various different cheap bags of seed over the years..... the more pricey stuff grew and the real cheap stuff didnt. use a garden fork and poke holes then drop seed down in them and step on them to keep it firm....... you soon see when it spouts.
