    Falcon rehab - cool!

I love the work people like this do. So imaginative and creative.

We have a pair of breeding NZ Falcons on the one hunting block and its always a thrill to hear their distinctive call. My one bird mad boy spends more time looking up at the sky for falcons than he does looking for bloody deer.

We got hawks around here that I call karearea. Very cool, they also get fed up on offal/carcasses.

    From the link
"Alarmingly, out of all the falcons that come to Wingspan each year the majority of them have injuries caused by deliberate shooting," Stewart said.
that's some pretty poor shooting, if they're able to be rehabilitated

Once upon a time the government would pay you to shoot the things, what an enlightened age we live in.

they are really cool those falcons only seen one and it was only on the third attack run on me that i actually seen it they can be dead silent on attack.thankfully i was wearing a hat as first pass i thought a tree branch had hit me as i was in a stand of dead trees second pass it took the knob off the top of my hat and knocked it off again it was like getting a reasonable whack on the head with a stick on the third pass i actually seen it coming swerving through the trees and veered off when i waved my rifle up in the air it had a nest in the top of one of the dead trees would have watched it for a while but it was not happy i was there so i left i am guessing it had chicks in the nest. bloody cool to see it in attack mode not so great when you are the target though.
