Sure she should resign. But a 16 17 year old boy would hardly of been damaged by it. He knew exactly what he was doing. Hardly a need for counciling.

I suppose its just protocol but who knows, some complicated emotions and such for a teenager.

There is a code of conduct for teachers, the same as for other professions. Had the teacher not taken the 'easy route' out (excuse the pun) then Teachers Council Disciplinary actions may have ensued. Simply put, the teacher should have kept a professional distance from the student, including out of hours or left teaching if the romance over rode her desire to be in the classroom.

Yip, think its pretty well established that teenagers brains don't work properly regardless of which sex they are and the power imbalance/manipulation etc is just as likely (and unhealthy) with an older woman and young boy as the other way around. They have rules about that for a reason.

Depends whether the teacher involved was a walrus or a minx as to how damaged the student was 😝

I didn't have any trouble with teachers. Did get cornered by one young female ancillary staff member that was making very suggestive comments.
