Actual supply plays a minor role in the price as most trade is in paper. The annual global production changes hands daily, obviously little of this is physical gold.

If physical supply ever plays a role and there develops a premium for physical over paper, then the price will rise a lot.

There is an enormous hole in forward supply. Most gold comes from old mines near the end of their life. It's decades since any real discovery happened.

Went out this morning with my old man and 2 of his mates to a local licence holders claim.
Ran the dream matt sluice on what turned out to be decent dirt from high bank.
Was amazed how fine some of the gold was that it trapped.

Made roughly a $175 bucks in 2 hours of screwing around.

I went out on Thursday and helped my mate recover his dredge. It took all morning to strip it, get it up a steep 40 foot bank, and loaded onto his wagon. I did a bit of prospect panning but got no colour from what looked like a likely area, and being half knackered from the morning's exertion I went home about 3pm. I did photograph this Black Shag who was looking for a meal about 100 metres away from where I was panning.

Recent local find.....would have thought finds like this were a thing of the past especially on previously worked ground but no.
