    Got me stumped

My brother turned up for a christmas catchup yesterday, his car is presenting with a real weird problem thats got my a bit stumped, so I thought I'd bring it to the place of all knowing wisdom

Its a Caldina with 220km on the clock, late 90's I think. It pools water, and large amounts of it in the rear passenger foot well. Weird thing is he sponged it out and it was back again a day later an it hadn't rained the whole time. Seals looked alright and it doesnt have a sunroof

    Any Ideas??

Mop it up with a white paper towel and see what the water looks like. If it looks like radiator water, ... heater. Clear/clean, ... window washer.

Had a Ford Courier that did similar. An aircon drainage host came off - Why the fuk did they put a join where the passengers feet are?

I'd be looking here too. Has the coolant level in the radiator changed?

Fill the radiator and then take it to a mechanic and get him to pressure test the radiator/coolant system. If it's the heater you'll be able to see the water appearing in the footwell and the system wont hold pressure.

Easy to disconnect but a prick to get out and fix.

Heater core. Check fluid level to confirm.

Leaky heater core would be my guess too, does it smell 'sweet' in the car? (Antifreeze smells and tastes like candy - it's a shame it's butally poisonous)

You will know instantly via the taste of its coolant or not.
Find a neighbours cat that you don't like and leave it in there for a couple of days to find out also lol
