Gun City online shopping not impressed with service.

    Bit of a rant .
Got a second hand 308 in Zambia last break as I ran into a farmer who said I can come and shoot some meat animals for a good price on his place.
So I sold my 22-250 I had for target at range just in case I decide to shoot a kudu or water buck.
Anyway it had a cheap Hawk scope on it which I are unsure of.
Good mate from same town in NZ was coming to start work with us in Tanzania so being a tight wad I saw a chance to get a scope from home rather than pay double the price in Zambia for same scope.
Found one on Gun city on sale and as I have ordered gear on site before grabbed it using details and credit card on my membership.
Claimed 3 day delivery so guessed it would be there in 5 to 7 days without a hitch in time for friend to bring across saving on courier costs.
    Did not turn up .
Emailed site and got a email back about 4 days later explaining that due to sale there was a delay in the orders and here is your track and trace link.
    Ok no worries .
Check the track and trace .
Could not drop off as nobody home and left a card.
No card at home according to daughter.
left it alone for a day and told daughter to have a good look on all doors and mail box.
emailed gun city and got a reply back after weekend basically telling me that it was my fault as I was not home.
Still no card at property after 3 attempted drop offs.
Contacted courier using my mobile from Tanzania which is not cheap an discovered that they for some reason had Tauranga as my town address not Waihi.
They dropped it off next day.
I are now facing two options.
Try to courier scope to Zambia which will be expensive and hope that it makes it to my Town.
OR buy another for twice the price at home and then have another one sitting doing nothing in shed in NZ as I already have a good scope on NZ gun.

The care factor from Gun City was sub standard and a sorry would have been nice.
Anyone else had this issue with them or is a out of character muck up?
    There I feel better now

The scope took just under 3 weeks counting weekends

In my experience they offer the same service in store, no need to shop on line!

    Sounds like a courier issue.
I have never had an issue with their service. They even honoured a warranty on an item that I got from someone else. They didn't have to but they did.

But twice I've had them address the package wrong. At least it was only cleaning stuff and not a rifle.

Their in store service is shit at best. Walk past and look at you then ignore you and walk away. Had that at the Christchurch and Wellington stores.

ive had good service from them the couple of times there has been a problem its been sorted straight away to my satisfaction and they've made sure I was happy every one makes mistakes every now and then it depends on the customers attitude as well I get it at work as well I'm not saying you are but some people are just arrogant wankers that don't appreciate good service anyway and just want something to winge about they get told to piss off and because we specialise in what we do they come back with a different attitude or go somewhere else suits us

Sounds like the main problem was with the courier. But to check, how did gun city address it? Was the problem there?

Gun city is big box retail so you have to expect the same from them and there staff as you would from the warehouse/briscoes etc

I haven't bought a lot through Gun City n two items online both items magazines cheaper than anywhere else plus good service. Being in there Hamilton store a couple of times n service was ok as I was mainly having a nohi (look for you palangis). I guess it does depend on what you're going in for. At the end of the day their job is to sell you stuff, that's how they make there living.

I went in with $1500 to buy my 1st centerfire rifle in chch but everyone was too busy to help so I left 45mins later. I waited at the front counter for 5mins but all the staff were busy, must of been a sale on. They do however match any online price so I did eventually buy one off them saving me money a month later.
