    Help id TV series

Can anyone point me in the right direction pls

Saw a TV series (I think) about 2 guys re-doing some historical journeys around NZ, doing it with the equipment/clothing from old days.

Does that ring a bell for anyone ?

it was an excellent series, great watch and a reminder of what our fore fathers went through in exploring this land. Wish they'd do a re-run instead of most of the foreign crap they have on TV 1,2, 3

If there is a book I'd rather go for that. Much prefer books to TV

First Crossings was one of the best series I have seen. Season 3 was known as Intrepid NZ. Would like to see those two guys do another series again.

Those early surveyors (one of which was a distant relation of mine and who ended up in Argentina as a surveyor) must have had some pretty shakey moments ... I cannot think of the creek where they got into a bit of a muddle ...West Coast ... but I do remember my maternal grandfather speaking on how hungry they were in patches ... all the old people have gone so I have no one to ask on this matter ...

go with gadgets suggestion.actually for all you history buffs with a penchant for the immortal coast -look for denniston incline videos(8th wonder of the world that),bush railways of nz -great footage of timber industry-featuring a relative of Brownlee MP,a man who i grew up to respect and revere.gerry s not to bad either!the scenery ,and the DIY engineering on some of those schemes would have modern H&Sshiney arsed biro pushers in spasms of heartfailure but hell it worked xcause guess what -most Nz state houses were built from that very native timber -andfrom personal experience my former hut hardly suffered in the devestation of CHCH-precisely because of that!
EEbees -google a website called "westcoast recollections -"-its got about 20,0000photos and bits of memorabillia.
be wrned however -take a large teapot of tea and at least two loaves of hot toast -shes mighty addictive and easy to gewt lost for hours trawling through it.
    just sayin like!
