How do you cook your paddocks, or is it just culling to cut down on the numbers? What time of year do paddocks breed?

So, a run through of the dairy season for us so far.... winter and spring was wet as buggery, the wettest it's been for 17 years, there were many days where large parts of the farm were completely under water and everything was a big muddy shambles, then coming into the end of spring and the beginning of summer somebody flicked a switch and it got so dry the paddocks turned to concrete, the driest it has been for 60 something years and the grass just stopped growing and tried to go to seed early, now the past five days it hasn't stopped raining and we are back to the flooding/muddy shambles stage again.
What a bloody battle. Cows seem happy enough

The things we have to do to keep the kids happy.
They've been away for the last 10 days while I've been toiling away at home and work. Came up to pack them up and they wanted to try for a canal trout/salmon. Who am I to disappoint them.
Hopefully at least one gets caught, been nothing dragged out of the lake...
