Anybody know more about this, is it likely to be be a windup, or just something that happens from time to time like any other disease?

According to my family in the US, one of which I would regard as expert in this kind of thing, these press articles are pure alarmist fake news.

There's no evidence to suggest CWD it could pass onto humans, certainly no recorded cases. But they don't recommend eating a deer with obvious signs of CWD. CWD isn't in NZ either.
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.

I wouldn’t want to eat a sick animal with any disease anyway haha. It’s always unfortunate to have something bothering the animals though.

No. Waikato is the elixir of life. They should administer it to these poor unfortunate beasts.

Just another smoke screen so they have an excuse to cull all the deer. I will keep eating it anyway, an old bastard like me has had a good innings and I certainly won't stop eating such a delicious beast.
