Anyone here made their own alcohol stove and used it successfully ?

Made a few and they work well in calm conditions but hard to use in any sort of wind
Hunting is relaxing just like Yoga except I get to kill something.

I tired making one of these, but could never get it to pulse/jet. The meths just burnt like the old trangia cooker.

I'm keen to get my eldest grandson (11) into fire lighting and more basic camping stuff, so I brought this little Solo wood burner back from the States. Haven't tried it yet, but its a handy little thing. I like the look of it. You could use solid fuel like a hex block in it too.

I was just looking at those stoves online yesterday, I like the look of them.
I am not so keen on alcohol as a fuel.

I have one of these i take camping with me. It's fantastic and doesn't add any bulk or weight to my pack.
There's another one i forget the name of that's basically the same but is better suited for alcohol/gas flames as well as wood. This one fits an alcohol burner if need be though.
