Anyone know Sam Neil well enough to see how he feels about the Firearms law changes, someone of his "visibility" speaking out against them would be good . . . . .

Being an actor he probably has never fired a "real" gun.

I think it is a great movie ( and this from a " West Island " import about 20 years ago.
It must be a fluke but my youngest boy looks like that boy in the movie......

They changed the story (particularly the ending) for the worse IMO. The way Crumpy wrote it wasn’t very Hollywood I guess.

Haven't read the book but thought the movie was quintessential Kiwi humour.
Real pisstake on Gov't Departments too.
Wife thought it was a 'bad impression' of NZ behaviour, but thought the scenery was fantastic.
She hoped it wouldn't be shown overseas and create an image problem for the hunting community.
    What does she know?
PS - my Aunt in Law gave me a first edition copy of Crumpy's "A Good Keen Man". Originally a gift to her father.

Showing my age here but somewhere I still have maybe his first 4 book, 1st editions. He got a bit formulaic later on and I stopped buying, or maybe my tastes changed.
Interestingly when I was at primary school our teacher read out parts of Good Keen Man and maybe another of his.
I can still Remember things like "wounded blanket', "dislodged boulder".

For those who like Taika Waititi's work, go see Jojo Rabbit. It's a bloody great movie, very clever writing from the man who bought you the Wilderpeople. 5 stars from me.
