    I watched that 89 year old ex para do a tandem jump over Normandy today. Bloody marvellous to see the grit he still had. We owe them and their fallen colleagues all a debt that can never be repaid. The least we can do is remember with a tear. As to what this fellah is thinking, it would be something extremely poignant and entirely personal.

    What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
    Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
    Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
    Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
    Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
    Rule 5: Check your firing zone
    Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
    Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

    Hard to believe their sacrifices, have a book covering D Day it's a good read if anyone's interested, the planning was amazing considering the yanks and the Brits had different ideas. There was a very tight time frame and the weather had to play its part. PM me

    Yep classic disasters, like waiting for a landing craft that never arrived to practice, because a Germany sub got it on the way, all dead!

    I heard today on the radio that they painted the wings of the Allied craft in stripes so that they didn't attack their own craft - hadn't heard that one before

    That is fantastic Pengy. It reminds me of the work that forum member Gappedaxe does with copper (albeit GA's is on a lesser scale).
