    Interesting trend on Trademe

I get a daily email from Trademe about any lefty rifles coming up for sale.

Something I've noticed over the last couple of months, is that at least half of the rifles seem to be 270...

Wonder why this would be ?

Anyone else notice interesting trends ?

A few years back there wasn't a lot of calibre choice in left handed bolts. Long action, 270, 30-06 etc.
I imagine ther are a lot more left hand 270s out there than anything else.

yes, you are correct...one has to go magnum to better it.
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

it is like once fired 270 brass everyone is all over the stuff and paying damn near the cost of a bag of 50 brand new cases and most of it is shitty federal brass (almost tempted to chuck all my federal brass on TM) while other calibers seem to go for cheaper prices is 270 stuff in that much of high demand? buggered if I know.

There has always been left hand drive guns in a variety of calibres...it has more than likely been a matter of demand...my brother has always bought L/H guns...but had to be prepared for a wait and even sometimes extra cost.

I've noticed it too ebf, but sportways was flicking a demo savage 308 at a bargain price on trademe the other week, so there is still some sensible rifles out there.

When I bought my first left handed bolt (about 1990) there wasn't a lot of choice.
Sako (expensive) Remington BDL (ugly) and Ruger from memory.
The Rugers were only available in long action and if you wanted either of the others in anything other than 270 or 308 you had to order it (which obviously meant buying new). I think most people thought "Nothing wrong with the 270. I'll have one of them".
There were options but nothing like the choice there is now.

Your post just reminded me that brother did buy the rifle in Oz and brought it back with him.
