    Internet data usage.

So we have had an issue with a virus infected program in our PC that used somehow all of our months data in a couple of days that has been sorted with infected programs deleted. I have installed Glasswire to monitor data usage. I have noticed that in the last 24hrs it has happened again. Is there anyone out there that can off some advise looking at a screen shot what is going on? Thanks Jeremy

Looks like possibly a browser plug-in/add-on. Akamai is just a content host/mirror from memory, for the likes of streaming video etc. (may not be entirely correct on that point though..)

Take a close look at any toolbars/plugins you've got installed for Microsoft Edge.

Haven't somehow left a video stream running in a background window somewhere?

I'm so techno deficient I might as well be living in a cave. No video running that I can find and we don't download movies so over 20GB going somewhere in 24hrs is a concern.

No expert,i would block everything in your firewall and let Edge through then grant new permissions for programs as you use them that you trust or they ask permission.

Use a different browser to start with. That should quickly tell you if it an add in on the browser you are using.

Chrome is good,it will load a few .exe's of itself but these handle different processes so if something plays up there is not a total crash.

It would seem that my problem was caused by Windows 10. It acts much like a Bit torrent system sharing data and updates etc with other users which I suppose takes the strain off their servers. This feature needs to be turned of to stop the data stream through Edge.

We had a similar issue on our shitty satellite internet. Windows 10 bloody updates and dropped connections meant multiple attempts at installs and suddenly bang there goes all your data. Turned updates off now and do them at the local school on their wireless when in town, wizz bang all done.
