Kids with Guns on tv1 tonite at 9:30

    Antigun documentary on TV1

No doubt done in the states?

I will probably trash the tv but I will watch it.

yeh, crap like that always looks at the worst idiots out there, and never the responsible parents with trained kids...

I took my kids to the local Deerstalkers twice a month more or less for a year before we ventured out into the real world.
That's probably a bit over the top, but they were both confident in their ability and safety conscious.

Looks like the beginning of the brain washing. What would be next? Banning Boy Scouts to Cary a Swiss Army knife while on camp like they did in the UK?

Yep has been on before and not that long ago if I remember correctly (May 17, 2015 - TV ONE).

And Yes its the good ole U S Of A. Murica home of...... well you can finish that whatever way you like.

Some of the footage in the doco makes me sick, especially n the Knob jockey who forceably makes his unwilling child discharge a firearm. then theres the emotive Mum perspective who brought a firearm then that firearm was discharged killing a child. It was the firearms fault of course not the storage and supervision nooo thats not going to make good tv. Its the sort of rubbish that gives "us" law abiding/sensible firearms owners look bad by association.Although the film suggests that it is about children and gun culture, really it is not because it is clear throughout that it is about parents wanting their children to feel the same way as them about their interests.
The doco appears to totally miss this and instead it just keeps putting hand-wringing images onto the screen and pushing the questions over whether or not it is right to put guns in the hands of children. Having just recently watched the three most recent films from Louis Theroux, I am not blind to the limits of his approach, but this would have been a better film if he had been in it, engaging with the people, asking the probing but 'faux innocent' questions to get people to talk about what they are doing. The reason for this is that there is a difference between teaching gun- safety and wanting your child to shoot guns, but nobody ever seems to ask this obvious line of questioning in the film. Instead we get a lot of deliberately extreme examples of tiny children being taken hunting whether they wanted to be or not.

nail on head reindeer, it was slanted to be anti...and made the pro gun peoples cause worse by showing dumb users and an arrogant father who forces his too young daughter to use too big of too powerful gun far too early...even Grandad tells him as it is.

I saw this last year and its pretty sickening how some of the parents treat their kids in it.
I don't actually think this ones anti gun .. its more anti redneck.

Im not going to watch it again ... I won't forget it in a long time.

I actually knew a guy just like one in the doco and he brought a very high end 308 for his sons 10th birthday.
We went out hunting wallabys and the kid was terrified of the thing.
Every time the rifle came out he was in tears.

I know you're right but I have not seen it.

What pisses me off is generally we have different cultures and ideals to some Americans when it comes to firearms.

Dumb ass people in this country think that everything that happens in America is relevant here.
We have our share of idiots as well but as a whole I think we rank highly in the fit and proper department.
