    Somehow stumbled across this video late last night. I found it pretty interesting.

    Did any of you old men go there or stayed there?

    Were there any other communities like this last century?

    There is a hippie commune at Waimarama

    Bruno Lawrence and his mates from Blurta lived there.

    My mates dad lived in one in the 70s i believe. Haven't asked him much about it though.

    In the 1970's Norman Kirk's labour govt set aside land for interested groups to set up communes. These were called Ohu and a lot of communes came and went until they faded out . Most of them were set up in remote areas of dubious economic viability but proved popular and a rite of passage to a hippie, greenie, back to basics segment of society. Some interesting times ,people and events.
