Is it wooden joinery? If not you can retro glaze aluminium using an adapter bead.

If you planning on staying there replace the windows even if it's A few per year. We have done 13 out of 20 the difference is incredible Compared to a relies place that has retro fitted ones and our house just gets quieter and warmer as we do them.
My relies in Chch now looking at triple for thir house. After staying there last weekend I would as well fuc their house noisy and cold !

Haha. When I spoke to builders etc here ten years ago, I always brought up the subject of DG. I was told, categorically, that it was bullshit and not needed in nz.
Give it another twenty years and we may have caught up with euro technology and actually have warm, dry homes.
I would not hesitate to retro fit with DG.

Try Metro glass they make the Double Glazed units and fit them up here. Aluminium joinery is the way to go with a retro fit alumium bead.
When I was in the glass bus, in the 90s, the units were a bugger to break down, ie. leak and get water in them. Think they're are better today, but you will get a warranty. You'll definitlly get benefits in both summer and winter in Palmy and a quieter house. Acoustic glazing has a bigger gap and different thicknesses of glass on each side, to trap the sound wave. Bigger gap and glass diff makes it better acoustically If carpet is placed in between it absorbs the sound waves and a dessicant to absorb moisture
