    Modding Victorinox Help

    Hey guys,
After drooling over some custom Swiss Army knife pics I decided to have a go myself. I took one of my old Climbers apart figuring I'd get some brass brazing rod to re make the pins out of later.

What I didn't realise is the 2.5mm and 2.2 mm brass pins victorinox use are not sizes that people I've spoke to stock.

Has anyone on here done this kind of thing or know where I can source some of this from?

    Cheers guys.

Yeah the Mrs' dad. I had thought about that but trying to slim down some brazing rod that way sounds painful.
I guess that's my last option if I can't find any made to measure stuff.

I'm interested in seeing your project .
Are you changing the handle scales ?
Or are you changing the layout of the blades and tools ?

I have a couple of things I'm wanting to try (I'll make a new thread with the progress once I make some if you're interested).

Currently I've sacrificed my old climber for science! (just to see how it goes and whether I have the ability to do this).

Then the plan is to take the philips driver (from my Tinker) and install it on a Compact (which I haven't got yet) to get a perfect little companion to my EDC leatherman. Then I want to strip out a few unused tools from my Cybertool 41 to make something more tailored for me.

Then I'll see what I can make with the leftovers!

I have some 2.5mm rods. I could cut into 200mm bits and mail you if you PM your address.

    Hey guys,
Gadgetman sent me some brass pins that were the size I needed so I could get started on having a crack at modding one of my swiss army knives. Thanks for that Gadgetman.

I haven't done much of a write up as I'm frikken tired, but there's lots of pictures on my thread on the multitool forums here: My First SAK Mod (Pic heavy)

Basically it was mission accomplished! My little Swiss Army Tinker now has scissors!

Did you mod that one? That's the same as a hiker now. Mine is almost a super tinker, it just doesn't have the hook.

That was a tinker when I bought it and I haven't changed a thing in the roughly 30 years I've had it. Had the bits I wanted and the name is a perfect fit.
