    My Roar Disaster F**k & Double F**k

I'd have to say the roar is my favourite time of the year, I pretty much always take two weeks leave & head off with a couple of good mates, this year I had two back to back trips lined up. One a walk about tops trip for a week looking for a good stag & the second to a Haast block for some fun chasing those scrubby coastal stags.

Well on Friday afternoon I was out for a mountain bike ride by myself when some f**kwit collided with me on the track & caused me to have a nasty fall, I use clip in pedals & it all happened so quick I couldn't release them, I took the full force of the fall on the point of my elbow, which prompt protested by fracturing in two places & dislocating! The muppet then decided he would just bike off & leave me lying in the forest clutching my smashed arm FFS

He promptly got a serve up & told to stay the fuck where he was & help me, as I didn't have my ph with me ( lesson there) lucky for me another rider came along within in a couple of minutes & took charge, (which I'm bloody greatful for) calling for some help, he arranged for the Ecan Ranger to come find us, who called an ambulance as I was in severe pain to put it mildly! Well after lying there for over an hour & half the ambulance service rang back to say as I wasn't dying they were to busy to come & get me. Quentin the Park Ranger then had to drive me into Chch hospital & waited with me until my wife arrived.

Now there are some good bastards out there, the bloke who stopped & help sort me out, Dave went back & got my bike & dropped it off at my house, I'm going to get him a box of beers.
The Ranger was concerned about my hilux being left out there so got a mate, went back out, picked it up & drove it home for me. He's in for some beers too.

Anyway back at A&E I finally get omitted & some pain relief, X-ray confirms the bad news & about 4hrs after it happened they start trying to un- dislocate it, Doc 1 has no luck, Doc 2 no luck ( ah doc's you realise it hurts a bit when your yanking on it!) more drugs please, which they oblige me with, doc 3 doesn't want to try so they get a surgeon down who quickly pops it back in, cheers fella! Cast it up & up to the ward, ended up staying two nights waiting for a CT Scan to see if I needed an Operation on the fractures, the paper work got lost so the scan was delayed until my lovely nurse got on the case about it & discovered the mistake, cheers Pip. that morphine is good shit, well up until it made me spew.

I don't know how anyone rests up in hospital as shit they are noisy places. Appointment to see a bone specialist next week to figure out the next move.

So that's my roar down the toilet, the boys are still going so look forward to hearing how they get on & I shall live vicariously thru all the roar action posted up here, stay safe out there & have fun this roar.

Yeap you see guys on dirt bikes with face helmets, full body gear but apparently us mountain bikers are fine in a t-shirt and shorts (and helmet).

Bugger to hear about your injury, I ride in cleats too so feel your pain. Lucky you didn't land funny or on your head etc, could have been much worse!

Fyi I ride with my PLB and always have a cell phone (an old Motorola)

    Well that's a cunt Outdoorsie.

Very true what Timmay says about protection, I MTB alot & yeah a pair of baggies & a T shirt don't offer much protection when flying down hill like a banshee but saying that, ya need to weigh up protection V's sweating ya arse off.

Cyclist's are a bunch of funny farkers, especially when riding in groups, they turn into a proper heard of wankers, stopping in the middle of tracks, thinking they own the show & most can't even be bothered saying hello. PS- That was just for you @Kiwi Greg hahaha

A roar trip always needs a kitchen bitch, just take plenty of drugs and do things one armed!
