    New Zealand rivers

A mate had his birthday today so we decided to go for a fish instead of doing any work a high country river chosen and off we went

Low water levels and stunning weather meant we could cover plenty of ground, not many things beat a day on the river.

Anyone else planning some fresh water fishing these holiday breaks?

Took my dad for a fish on Friday. Got him his first trout on the fly for a few years. I manage to get my first two for the season.

Nice one. Yep I'm sure planning a few more river missions this summer. Not too windy then?

    Nice lookin spot 7mmsaum.
Stug thats a reasonable looking mudfish out of what looks to be barely a creek(probably the headwater to a decent river?) I would never have guessed a decent fish would live in such a small creek.

It is not a very big river/stream but had trout in most pools. Definitely an early season stream.

Nice looking trout @7mmsaum and @stug. Yes I'm out most nights fishing. Those pics look like rod and rifle territory.

@Dundee this is the first year for three years a mate and I haven't done a fishing/hunting trip this time of year. Usually get 20-30 trout for the weekend (all but one put back) and usually get a look at a deer. Fishing is the main focus though. I live within 10 min of the Waimak river but don't get there much as the river is hit and miss for trout.
