    No thanks.

Imagine sitting on your deck; out in the sun; cleaning your rifle; under such an arrangement. Or just carrying a gun bag in and out of your home.

"He explained New Zealand has a "tiny population and a s... load of land" and we need to take advantage of that"...

And turn our one greatest asset (our wide open spaces) into a mini India. Sounds promising.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/pro...-2039#comments

Better public transport would be good, however.

And to be fair to the concept of micro communities/shared living - it may be a smart way of managing space, but it depends on where they want to draw the line. The idea of simply gobbling up as much land as possible and turning it into housing with little disregard for our environment while giving industries such as oil, gas and farming the red flag because of the anticipated negative effect on our wildlife/landscape...double standards? The latter would bring in more revenue, whereas the former would only encourage a higher population and lead to more of a squeeze, and more of a strain on resources.

Would prefer if the South Island didn't turn into a North Island.

Be interesting to hear people's thoughts.

Well, the name of the economist Brittany quoted - the scribe of 'Generation Rent' - one Shamubeel-Eaqub, rang the proverbial bell. And sure enough - he's a "do as I say you deplorable munters, don't do as I do' because, guess what, the overeducated hemidemisemiwit went and - bought a house.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/opi...-house-at-last

So - since his spew makes up the majority of the column, he and the horse he use to rent can both go commit a public nuisance on his newly-cherished private land, the intellectually-inconsistent idiocrat.

He's yet another import* who comes here because it's a nice place (less nice than it used to be thanks to his ilk) which the resident net taxpayers have toiled for generations to build - and then he wants to change it the reflect the worst parts of his own natal country. Not India BTW, but a close neighbor. He's clearly a hateful Agoraphobe!

i vote to cut the cable and declare the south a republic. govt to be elected for a 4 year term and then replaced and if you do a bad job you get banished to the former north island of nz . candidates to vote for are drawn from the public register and no second term. dont need to turn the countryside into villages just need to stop importing people.

Once the labour government achieves their real agenda of a socialist republic this sort of thing wont be far from the truth, everyone will be wearing a uniform also

May I suggest build the wall south of the Bombay Hills - after first moving Wellington to Warkworth.

And thats why we should be cutting down on people imports. NZ will become an over-populated shit hole where we live like battery hens. These "environmental" type people who believe in a green NZ are the same ones who believe filling up the country with people. When all that will do is cause more pollution and environmental damage to the land. Even if Maori who like to claim they are for looking after the land etc etc, I dont see any of them saying this mass immigration is a bad thing and it needs to stop. As for the South Island cutting the cable and being free of the bs of the northern law makers, it will never happen, never ever.

"Mass transit" is one of those leftist utopian dreams that is always overpriced, inefficient and underutilized.

Living in cramped houses up against a bunch of other people, forget it. I like not being able to see my neighbors.

He rings the proverbial bell at every opportunity, does our Shamubeel. Watch him soar in a year or two into politician status. It is after all, what he strives for.

Hi density housing is ugly with a capital Ug and not the least of which you must almost be able to hear your neighbour fart in bed when living in that sort of housing. You most certainly would be able to hear your neighbour pissing in the dunny while standing. The next thing will be that we breed a generation of fellahs that piss sitting down because they are scared the neighbour will hear them.

Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

It is an unfortunate progression. The city sections are getting smaller and smaller. Folks old place was 1024m2, we moved into a place that is 840m2 25 years ago, currently sections are more like 400m2.
