    Norway prison system

Saw this on Al Jazeera, thought it was quite interesting.

Norway's prison without bars: 'It's a trust thing' - Al Jazeera English

They have a population a touch bigger than us, and no doubt a collection of dropkicks who do whatever they want.

They don't have anywhere near the number of dropkicks that we have

Our prison system is set up to manufacture dropkicks or turn existing dropkicks into even bigger ones with gang connections so those Norwegian fellas might be onto something.

Calling it the "department of CORRECTIONS" really is a joke here, isn't it.

You're into it with the department of Connections, although I do think there is hope (as shown in Norway). Just either happens to be in the too hard basket in nz or victims' emotions get in the way, thinking only that they want punishment for the crime that effected them and not of the prevention of further offending.

    Sigh.

The scandies have gone soft in the head IMO.

What ever happened to their Viking heritage.

There is no accountability for the grief a crims causes to their victim that's my gripe with the justice system. If you have you car stolen, the hassles caused to you and the cost of putting it right, the investigation of you by the insurance company etc are very distressing, the perpetrator gets sweet FA. Make it five yrs min and if court in the act no trial straight to goal.
My son was king hit from behind, knock out on his feet and lucky he didn't hit his head on the conc he was standing on, the person who hit him, didn't know him, did it to look big in front of his mates, got attempted murder charge? No got diversion!!! Can you see a prob? Cost to you and I was two nights in hospital, cost to my son was loss of confidence for a while and getting over his injuries. Worse senerio would have been the loss of my son! Diversion what a joke. Do they deserve another go at life?

I grew up in the waikato , then lived in the bop for some years. Learnt to hate it because of the general behaviour and complete lack of empathy for others. So I packed up the car and left. A move I do not regret. Sure there is crime etc wherever you go, but some places in nz behave better than others. And yes, the nz justice system is based around political correctness and has gone soft on perpetrators. The victims of crimes need closure which they do not get whatsoever . we need change from the status-quo if we are to move forward as a nation that cares about itself and its future.
If you can just be yourself,
    You can be anything.
