    Only in America.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

I can see the point of concealed carry in the USA where everyone and their mother has a weapon.. But not openly carrying an AR-15 or something in a god damn school

Utah State Today - Utah State University News
USU police, in conjunction with several teams of state and federal law enforcement experts, determined that there was no threat to students, staff or the speaker, so no alert was issued.
At no time was there any imminent threat.
After a careful assessment of the threat, law enforcement officials determined that it was similar to other threats that Sarkeesian received in the past.
Enhanced security measures were scheduled to be in place, including prohibiting backpacks and any large bags.
Only people with CCW permits could carry.

Nothing wrong with carrying firearms anywhere. Nutcase guy shows up tries to shoot people, then everyone else shoots him or he chickens out when he notices everyone in the room is carrying an ar-15 or handgun on their hip. That's the open carry principle at work.

Everyone has a right to defend themselves. And if the law in the United States allows the ownership of firearms by everyone, then everyone should be allowed to defend themselves by also carrying.

I think in New Zealand the situation is different as we aren't allowed to own firearms for self defence, such the risk of being attacked by gun owners is far less than in the states thanks to our vetting system.

But to say to people, no you cannot bring your guns to an event that has been threatened with gun violence is absurd, since everyone there is now a sitting duck.

You may also argue that the police could be posted to the event, they could indeed, by why should someone have to trust their safety to someone else?

UTU apparently has a no open carry policy (which is in the grey area of legality). People weren't going to be open carrying at the speech.
