    Picking a babies name?

To all you parents out there, how did you simply go about it?

Im in alot of ways a traditionalist, dont want names such as Shanequa, or silly ones.
Ive got a mate with a kid called Jackson, so that names out, which I like.

By the sounds of it, need two names. Likely a boy and girl. Fraternal Twins.

Essentially do what you want and every one else will get used to it. Somebody's dead uncle doesn't have dib's on a name also don't tell anyone till they are out.

If you can shut your eyes and say the name out loud without picturing a rapper or somebody living in a trailer your on the right track.

    I have four boys.

    I named them all.

What I did was look back a few generations on the Male side and chose names of their forebears that I liked.

So they are all named after a great, great, grandfather or older.

    Cheers

Just make sure THEY will be proud of it as the grow up and it fits a grown up. A name is very special and I think influences the the way a person turns out. Make it special especially if you can tie a second name to a family name. My grandson is called William Terry! My first names in reverse. My other grandsons have names of their great grandfathers, my grand daughters have been given names that can be shortened. Put a lot of thought into a name they can relate to, gives them confidence and that they can be proud of?

middle names were easy for our twin girls ... we went with mother in laws name and my grandmothers ... first names were also family , except we changed our minds at the last minute when talking to the anestetheoligist and he mentioned his new granddaughters name , so we changed it to that cause we liked it .... we went with Ruby elisabethe Marriott , and Isla kara Marriott ... as has been said , choose what makes you happy , practise calling out the names and see if they sound silly .... see if they rhyme with vagina or something else goofy .... good luck

We had a Grand Daughter born two weeks ago.

My son has named her Indy Grace.

Indy because he likes the Name and Grace because that's her Great Grandmothers name on her mothers side.

    Cheers

    Picking a babies name?

Just had a girl and name choice was soley upto me, Dakota Courtenay Kayla Smith.
I think it's a pretty special name, the middle names are after my sister and sister in law and the first name well I just like it, unusual but awsome

If we have a boy next he will be called Axle Hunter Smith

Both write a list of names you like then see which ones are the same and go from there.

As Stumpy said, see how it rhymes as you don't want them been teased as they grow up

We chose Nina. Straight away someone called her Neens had a snotty nosed kid in our fire truck going Ne Na Ne Na Ne Na Wife's middle name is Maree so went with that as well

Whatever you do go back in time to the school yard and try and think of nasty rhymes for the name, cant think of any its in the possibles.

Maaaate, ... is there some news you haven't shared with the team?

We largely did as P38 did. Picked names of family, friends and acquaintances from the past and went through a book of names to find variations that fit the family's past. They mostly have unusual first names.
