Duh!! Plastic bottles of course, not to mention all the millions of tonnes of plastic wrap.
At least we can all sleep easy in the knowledge that as from today, the world is officially now a better place and we've made a substantial improvement to the planet

I remember back in the 1980's they said we had to get away from paper bags as cutting down trees was destroying the planet and all that.

Now they say we gotta go back to paper as trees are renewable(duh) and plastic is bad.

Really at the end of the day, neither matters, the earth really doesn't care. Next time Lake Taupo blows, paper or plastic makes no difference.

It's nothing more than leftist control of people's lives.

In California I've seen some communities that has banned plastic bags and with nothing to dump their trash in, people just throw whatever over their shoulder, so now there is trash everywhere. Saving the planet and all of that apparently.

I think it a good thing even though no so called single use plastic bag that entered my home ever got just a single use.

Keep in mind people that it only took a petition of 65,000 to end the life of plastic bags with handles...it shouldn't be too hard to get the government to take action on other matters.

I suspect it was a petition that the Govt basically agreed with.

Fuckin oath it's a good thing. I was on a surface longliner off fiordland about 15 years ago. Working as an observer. We regularly caught moonfish as bycatch and EVERY one had plastic in it's gut. Pretty terrible and in a pristine environment such as Fiordland. The shit is everywhere.

My favourite bakery has cut all the handles off his bags and is using them, I asked him how many he has, turns out he has about 10,000. But then the number could have been lost in the translation.
