    Preppers & Survivors

    Hi There,

My name is Maryke Penman and I am a journalist with the North Shore Times.

I am interested in "prepping" (preparing) in the case of a social collapse.

There is a new series on Sky TV 'Doomsday Preppers' that follows various families as they set about preparing themselves for the collapse of the world as we know it.

They stock pile food, train in hunting and hand to hand combat and equip themselves for a social chaos.

The Mayans once predicted the end of the world to be December of this year.

Any locals involved in some form of "prepping", even if it is simply in case of a natural disaster, etc?

If you or anyone else can help get in touch with me via email at maryke.penman@snl.co.nz or over the phone (09) 4894189.

    Many thanks for your support.

    Cheers,

    Maryke Penman

Wrong site Maryke Penman , you need to go to a site with weirdo's on it --we are sports people not para military frekos -school yourself up on shooting and the type of people that enjoy this sport so you dont give us a crap name so you can be seen doing a classic media beat up

    Try these guys.

They're weird nutjobs in an awful club run by white supremacist scumbag Kyle Chapman, ought to give you plenty of material.

Firearm owners tend to have a rather suspicious view of the media in general I'm afraid, due to the tendency to portray us in a rather negative light often with factually incorrect/biased pieces.

    Cheeky prick KJ

The zombie thing is a joke - one I gladly go along with as its all good humour
I have just started building a 'Zombie Gun' out of bits I have laying around - yes its VERY FLURO green - looking forward to taking it to the range

A bugout bag and a INCH bag I think are worth having laying around for whatever reason - Chch Quakes would have got alot more people prepared I think.
I have a box of stuff that should go into a bag.. along with 1000 rds of ammo for the Zombies
Polar shifts arnt of concern for me, but there are a bunch of really rare situations that could call for Bugout or INCH bags

In a country sitting right on a fault line I find it amazing how many people fail to prepare for just about any unforeseen events. Not being prepared for the first chch quake was a little bit silly, but the sad thing is how many people were not prepared for the second one. Nothing wrong with having a few weeks worth of food + water + energy in the house. I don't really think of myself as a 'prepper', rather just a boyscout with a young family. I don't intend to be the one standing in the queues for a bucket of water or some rice if things go pear-shaped.

"doomsday preppers" is just another dickhead media term. Those people call themselves survivalists.

Looks like we have a medal winning team on this forum for the Apocolympics!

So "Mr PenMan" do you think you'll leave a "Maryke" in the "Paper" about this forum?
