The price of a feed of fish (fush)

Mate just back from WA and took pics of the fresh fish counter. We think we have it bad
$50 AU $ per kilo for Kingi is the one that comes to mind, and the other species didn't fare much better

Its 50 plus per kilo for farmed red backsteaks and they are in paddocks everywhere.

1 liter of two stroke mix and a liter of diesel gets me on average four good size flounder. And I could do it for zero fuel if I didn't have to work.

Yup cheaper to go out and catch our own blue cod, even with an hour drag, and then a couple hours out in a 7.5 metre hard top with a LS2 and jet in it. Plus its fun.

Missus bought 4 blue cod fillets last week for tea because I hadn't got anything out of the freezer. Worked out it was about 6.50 for each fillet. Made sure she licked the plate clean too

Haha, I feel bad now, I don't eat fish and only fish for sport so most of my catch gets returned to the sea, never priced it either, I must have thrown away tens of thousands of dollars over the years!

The price of seafood here in Perth is astronomical and the quality usually pretty poor. It’s one of the things I really miss about NZ!

Hake is a common in most fish and chip shops but you’re paying 9.50ish a piece. Pink Snapper from the markets 35-40ish a kilo on ‘special’

Only way is to join the crowds and catch your own.

Have not had fresh fish for ages, so I took trusty rod out to local beach and caught one trev. Shot home and cooked it up for tea. Best fish I have had for a very long time. I refuse to pay for fish if I can't get off my arse and go and catch it, there is something wrong.

I can understand Aussies paying that sort of money for King fish because most if not all the fish over there is crap .
Personally I wouldn't pay for King fish its bland tasteless rubbish rather have a snapper fillet or even fresh Kahawai is better .

I heard boneless snapper in Auckland at this time of year is getting up near that price too. 1 niece said she can't afford to stop in the fish dept; of the Supermarket up there but uncle loads her up with a few fillets when she comes down this way now .
