That will be a heap of HOME DETENTION!!
So sad to have you child taken away in that manner, but its nearly acceptable that it happens every week in NZ.

Absolute tragedy for the young woman , her family, and all of New Zealand.
It reflects on current behaviours and attitudes in our country from the behaviour and codes of accountability from the highest levels of our government and on down through oyr universities, education system and alk the PC garbage and baggage extant in this country and with the media right in amongst it at gutter level.
I am dimayed and disgusted. I hope justice comes squarely and promptly; properly upheld by police of integrity.
Hearfelt sympathy to all her family, friends and to all our other young visitors. What must they be feeling about us ?

As tragic and shitty as it is, truth is the reaction kinda shows how safe it is here compared to many other places - would it have even made the news in her home country if it happened there or just another day, another couple of murders?

The death of this young woman is tragic in the extreme and having had my youngest daughter travel through thirty countries in the last four years and disappear without contact for a few days in Spain earlier this year I can imagine the anxiety the family felt when there was no contact with Grace on her birthday but I cannot begin to imagine the grief that her death has brought them. The prick that has done this deserves the loathing and despising that we are expressing. Our legal system will see the man imprisoned and I can only hope that some one in prison takes exception to what he has done and decides to inflict some real pain on the mongrel.

What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

I didn't say it was the same situation. Just another example of a piss weak legal system. I don't think these things should "balance" out.

Intentional homicide rate per year per 100,000 inhabitants:

    NZ 0.99
    UK 1.2

    Pretty similar.

I have been watching this case unfold with a sense of dread as a lot of people have.
As a kiwi I feel an enormous sense of shame and and anger that a young tourist ( male or female ) has had this happen to them in our slice of paradise.

She's not an accidental Tourist, she has come here to experience NZ............world class scenery, friendly people and safe .............. Grace wasn't naive either, she's just done South America and would have thought this would have been safe.

You and I now have a part of our taxes put towards feeding, educating , clothing and feeding this fucken piece of shit.
I won't apologize to Graces family as I really don't have the words or could look them in the eye.

To Grace, I hope you are in a better place and if I ever get to meet you one day I will do my best to express my shame that you were ripped away from your family and had your whole life to live.
    Sorry Grace.

I can only begin to imagine how her family are feeling. No parent should ever have to bury their child.
On a cynical note, anyone want to bet that the murderer isn’t on bail, or has a previous record ?
Despite all the hand wringing, and empty words from politicians, I fear nothing will change.
The Govts previously stated policy of wanting to reduce the prison population can only mean shorter sentences, and
more criminals back in the community.
If people can’t live as a part of society, and abide by the laws of that society, then I feel they need to be removed for the protection
of the rest. If the death penalty isn’t an option ( not going to open that can of worms ) then that means incarceration until they no longer offer a threat.
He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !
