    The Rules for Gunfighting

    Rules of Gunfighting

    1. Bring a gun.
Preferably, bring at least two guns.
Bring all of your friends who have guns.

    2. Bring ammo.
The right ammo. Lots of it.

    3. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice.
Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.

    4. Only hits count.
The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss.

    5. If your shooting stance is good, you're probably not moving fast enough or using cover correctly.

    6. Proximity negates skill. Distance is your friend.

    7. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun, the calibre of which does not start with ".4"

    8. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a long gun… and a friend with a long gun.

    9. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance or tactics.
They will only remember who lived.

    10. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating, reloading and running.

    11. Accuracy is relative: most combat shooting standards will be more dependent on "pucker factor" than the inherent accuracy of the gun.

    12. Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

    13. Always cheat, always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.

    14. Have a plan.

    14. Have a back-up plan, because the first one won't work.

    15. Use cover or concealment as much as possible.

    16. Flank your adversary when possible.
    Protect yours.

    17. Don't drop your guard.

    18. Always tactical reload and then threat scan 360 degrees.

    19. Watch their hands. Hands kill.
In God we trust. Everyone else, keep your hands where I can fucken see 'em.

    20. Decide to be aggressive enough, quickly enough.

    21. The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.

    22. Be courteous to everyone. Friendly to no one.

    23. Your number one option for Personal Security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

    Be polite. Be professional.
But have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

I know a guy who may or may not be full of shit, but I know him well and he always says what he thinks is right, no spin.

When asked for his FAL "would you use a firearm in self defense" his response was "well, if I had a gun and they had a gun and they were threatening me with theirs, then yeah, I would".

He got his license. Now this may be bullshit, but as I understand it (from a thousand threads on here back when people were braver) that's how the law works. They have a knife, you can have a knife.

It's a moot point if your rifle, bolt and ammunition are all locked up separately in accordance with the law.

I guess originally, it was. Satire or black humor. It's credited to the USMC.

Some pertinent things in there to live life by, though.

I guess it would be funny a month ago, but it is a bit edgy given current circumstances. I agree with every point though, but the order is off. Start with 14, 23, 19, 20.... Those apply long before anyone reaches for a gun.

And the crucial one they left out - when reaching for a gun, ask yourself if you are willing to spend every cent you own on lawyers, and a decade in prison for this.... If not, proceed to plan B.

IF you make the call to arm yourself with a firearm to protect whats yours then all of the original post is spot on.

Is it the right thing to do ? Only you will know but once you unlock your firearm you need to commit to using it.

Otherwise grab a baseball bat or pick axe handle and prepare for getting hurt

I think anything that states or infers the use of firearms for anything other than sporting purposes is bullshit.

Call me WOKE or whatever you like but I think in the current climate and given the event in chch and ensuing malarkey that this is in poor taste

Yeah i wasn't trying to have a go, there's just a sick little undercurrent in here at the moment insinuating we need to shoot people because they are coming for our shit. Act like adults now more than ever.

De-escalation skills have ended more gunfights than bullets. Rather practice those.

Just in general, and I may be picking it up from the wider internet too. I just dont think any promotion or stance in favor of shooting people is acceptable. Just my 2 cents

I think it makes firearms owners look really bad. Also, you would be declined a licence if seriously subscribing to these views.
