    Sadomasochistic or just sheer nuts.

Being over sixty and unemployed has caused me to take stock and long story short we are selling the property and have just gone unconditional on a cash sale. Now comes the contemplation of what to do. After much thought I would love to find a smaller bare block of land and build again (18 years is long enough ago to have forgotten the trauma of building).

My mind has also turned to what we can realistically take with us to what is likely to be an interim rental so I can see that there is shit loads of other stuff that will need to be sold (starting with a herd do deer). Fuck what have I done?

Rushy there's some nice old folk homes in the BOP, do you want some brochures?
If I sold for cash I'd take a cruise to recharge before going into battle again, prob with building is the Master Builders, the ones that caused a lot of leaky houses and walked away!basically there only ones you can get to build for you today, I'd like to build again but the probs of managing it yourself are grim, I've done 8 of them over my life and none leaked, I'm am concerned that the first one I did may be rubble in Masterton after that quake yesterday
Good on you making that decision, it's always a tough one, and moving is a pain, get some temp storage.

I cant offer any real advice Rushy. But I would like to say good luck whatever you decide to do.
There are some nice blocks up this way for sale, with the bonus of great fishing on your doorstep.

I'm with Scouser, a forum shoot and barbie

Everything you have is material. What is important is that wherever you go you will always have family around you. No amount of money will buy that. Reading what you have said about your family on here makes you a very rich person. (I know someone that came into a very large sum of money and now the family is split and torn to pieces)

That's a shame mate, is a lovely property but needs must I guess. The suggestion of a holiday is a good one in my eyes but sometimes change is as good as a holiday? All the best though.

Crikey Rushy, life just got exciting again. You are lucky that you at least have a number of options opened to you. I guess what ever you do being relatively close to Auckland is a priority with the kids and things. The cost of a property as such you desire obviously gets cheaper the further you move from Auckland. With your management skills I'm sure you could buy a business venture that would thrive with your commitment to hard work. Pengy may have something there. The Coromandell isn't to far from Auckland, the area is just starting to really move real estate wise, with the good option of capital gain looking promising for the future. Whiti City also has most of the essential services ready available for a comfortable life style. I envy you. Oh and there's Pigs and fishing in your spare time plus entertainment and espresso for Mrs Rushy

Coro is a big Commute to Mrs Rushy's work Gapped Axe

Rushy, Have you offered the stock to the purchaser? If they have turn them down them perhaps organise the use of the land from the buyer and ask the neighbour to manage the stock until you can sort out what you are going to do?

Just choose the RURAL option on the green bar first and then make the desired selections from the options on the left hand side of the screen.

It was a confusion of ideas between him and one of the lions he was hunting in Kenya that had caused A. B. Spottsworth to make the obituary column. He thought the lion was dead, and the lion thought it wasn't.

Still got no real medical centre up here though GA We got cafes galore, and sports/fishing shops for Africa. We even have a nice flash footpath along (most) of the main beach which has only cost $230,000 so far due to its design. But our local Lions are having to fundraise to get an xray machine in town. Bloody council...GRRRR.

Thames is only 1.5hrs away, probably closer for Rushy than Auckland and quicker service. Wasn't aware Ma Rushy worked.

The purchaser doesn't seem interested in the deer. Most of them will likely be sold to the works with a few potentially going into the trophy trade. It is the fawns that are the worry but using a neighbour to bring them on until they can go to the works is a good idea.
