Some really dumb idea by the NSA. Carry empty gun bags around in public. http://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co.n...d.php?p=499132

Seems stupid. If a member of the public calls in then the cops gotta respond to it to make sure it isn't anything sinister. That ain't harassment to me, that's their job

Well said. It isn't going to educate the people who need education - both the public and NSA

H'mm I wonder. Seems to me to be more about a silent protest which is good, standing up to the anti bang bang brigade. Dumb idea no, I don't believe so. Standing up for your rights, supporting people with imitative and commitment to secure our firearms rights have to be good. Hiding our heads in the sand,----well that's a dumb idea.

Being antagonist is a dumb idea. There are other approaches. Take a non-shooter for a sensible shoot. Show them that firearms can be used in a safe manner. Baiting them and the police? Dumb.

Being seen to be actively doing something has it's advantages too, rather than quietly gathering in quiet secluded places where we are invisible.

Are the anti's quiet? Do they get their message out?

The few antis are loud, yes, the silent majority of people aren't TV3 thicko autocue readers though. No argument between any two shrieking idiots ends well. We are defined by the most visible amongst us, same as the police when there's the odd fuck up on their part. Our best course of action is to NOT do dumb shit that will achieve nothing at best, and make us look like fruitcake cop-baiters in the States at worst. It's this sort of response that the gun-haters want, isn't that obvious?

OK. Who here has enough time to go wandering carrying an empty rifle bag? I'd wager that one'd spend an awful long time doing so before obtaining the desired police response. And then what? Get arrested as a mental patient for meandering with an empty rifle bag just looking suss? I've better things to do personally.

I'm confident that most firearm owners will treat this "campaign" with the disdain that it deserves.

Actually I shouldn't say that as it drags "America" down, Mrs always get agitated when I refer to "Estados Unidos" as America, America is a continent NOT a country she reminds me haha

South America is not looked upon as the safest tourist destination overall though, to be fair.

Having said that, my eldest had the time of his life in Chile and Uraguay (sp) when he was a youngster. But his group did have to have a police escort due to internal troubles.

    Sorry for the hijack

The cops have better things to do than checking on every idiot wondering with an empty gun bag.
