    Shipping Rifle

Today I sent my BSA Hunter down to Otago - I did this from Blenheim - Marlborough
    Fastways is the only option
Blenheim Fastways Depot is only open for 1 hour middle of day and again at 4.30pm - 5.30pm
However - they have a "Agency" at the Info Tourist Centre by Railway Station

So goes in there - and hand over well packaged parcel and say its to go to Otago
Woman starts measuring and about to weigh it and I "stupidly" say "itís prob 3.5 - 4kg - itís a rifle"
    Well F~~ck me pink
Woman in chair almost spins herself out of it with her reaction - "rifle - rifle she cries - we are not allowed rifles on these premiseís - we cannot touch/take etc etc etc"
Me says "why - Fastways is the only option to take rifles"
"we are only an agency and are not allowed rifles on premiseís etc etc"

So after I say things like - is a rifle more dangerous than a car etc etc - they literally chase me out of building
I ring Fastways main Depot in Nelson and lady says "did you have it in a bag or wrapped" I say "wrapped - poor bastard who bought it will take 2 days to unwrap it"

So - I wait around for midday and hand over to main Depot - man says what is it - I say rifle - he says - sorry I cannot touch it - manager must do paper work
By this time I seriously thinking of unwrapping the thing myself !!!

Manager arrives 15mins later and does paper work then says buyer will have to travel to nearest Depot (away from his own town) to collect it from Depot as we will not deliver to residential address
    Then - she charges me $75 F~~~cking $$$

What a bloody circus and total con/rip-off !!

H&F store to store only cost me $35 last time I shipped a rifle.
Means new owner has to show FAL etc on pickup, and then they can spend $$ at the H&F store if they need ammo or whatever

You hit the nail right on the head there "man living on rock"

I actually sent another Rifle 2 months ago to Invercargill - via the same Fastways "Agency" in Blenheim
I did not mean to - as I thought it looked obvious - but I did not mention "rifle" and they sent it and it only cost $20

$26.00 Auckland Fastways depot to Christchurch Fastways depot. Might pay to ask them why? Had to show licence and give them a copy of the Plod form and they even helped wrap the box in 3 x black bin bags. Hardest part was trying to phone them about what I needed to do. Gave up after 45 minutes on hold and rocked down with the KuntyMauser in an old 22 box.
Anyone know which of the H&F up in Jafaland do transfers?

Well said Sarvo, I used to walk down Queen Street in Auckland with a rifle I had purchased form the then Sportsways ( Bolt open) without a gun case or bag, no problem just goes to show how stupid people have become. Admittedly there are more nutters about today but hell people's reaction to guns is a bit over the top I think.

way back in 1986 when I first got my FAL I used to push bike thru center of Ashburton (and past the police station )with my rifle slung in a bag over my shoulder to get to the "butts" rifle range which were almost in the middle of town and no one even cared

Its not a weapon our a rifle its a sporting good which you use for your past time of sport......but if you once more try to charge my $75.....this can change.
